1956 RCA-8-PT (Portable Television)

The TV was found at an auction around the end of December 2018. It is missing all the accessories and looks beat up. Below is a photo of with case removed.

Below is further disassembly of the chassis. This made it much easier to recap and check the components.

The recap was a standard procedure. I did remove the shield from the CRT and the yoke cover had disintegrated. You can see the back of yoke below.

Below is my solution. A Duke's Mayonnaise lid.

This worked very well for the cover. As for the centering rings I used cardboard shims and tape to hold the shim in place. As seen below. Is this the best solution? No, but it works. I have no plans to get rid of the TV in the future. I am not trying to unload a problem on someone else.

Here is the TV finished up and sitting on top of my Dumont TV.

Bell & Howell Oscilloscope Model 34 DeVry Tech

The Bell & Howell Oscilloscope Model 34 was purchased at an auction and then give to me. It was made by Heathkit for DeVry Tech (DeVry University). Below is a photo of the front after I finished electronically going through it. There was nothing interesting that came up while working on it. Below you can see some before and after of the underside. Below is the top side. The 2 filter cans were 4 sections of 20mfd for a total of eight 20mfd capacitors. Below is the solution I came up with to replace them. It consists of eight 22 mfd on a PCB that is zipped tied to the bottom of the chassis. Overall this is a simple oscilloscope and was a simple electronic restore. Here is the schematic.

O.M.G.S Japanese AA5 Radio It does work. The electrical work was done prior to me purchasing the radio.

Robyn T-123B

I picked up this radio at a local flea market. It was in fair shape and dirty. The radio smells like cigarette smoke as it heats up. Below you can see what the top side looks like. I changed all electrolytic and fil m capacitors. Below is the underside before I change capaitors. Here is a photo after: The only issue this radio had was an open 33k ohm resistor coming off the meter adjust pot. The symptoms were the meter seeing a constant 7 volts across it and a lower screen voltage on the first IF amplifier. Once the resistor was replaced the voltage went away and the screen grid voltage went back to normal. Cleaned up face.
